First Light, First Ride

The first light of morning catches the peaks above Many Glacier Hotel, turning them warm pink while the valley below remains in cool blue shadow. I painted this view en plein air from the entrance of the historic lodge, looking across its rooftops toward the mountains beyond. Down below, one of Glacier National Park’s iconic Red Buses waits to begin another day of touring. I loved that little flash of red tucked into the scene- a classic piece of Glacier history beneath the fleeting alpenglow.
